We are pleased to offer you a wonderful opportunity to work with us in presenting our steampunk science festival, OctopodiCon 2012, to be held October 5, 6, and 7, 2012.

Steampunk is a growing trend often described as Victorian Science Fiction, the retro-future, or neo-vintage, all of which are apt for this broad-ranging and eclectic sub-culture. It is a rapidly growing demographic influencing TV shows such as Warehouse 13, Castle, and Sanctuary, movies such as Wild Wild West, Sherlock Holmes, The Time Machine, Hellboy I and II, and The Prestige, as well as videogaming, gaming, anime, and historical re-enacting. Art and fashion have embraced steampunk through the ever-expanding do-it-yourself (DIY) movement, as well as reviving an interest in DIY science. As a growing trend, fans are continually seeking venues that support their passion and provide platforms to share and learn more about it.

The Oklahoma Metropolitan Library System and the Society of American Military Engineers are sponsoring (respectively) guests and contests at OctopodiCon 2012 to encourage literacy and an interest in science and engineering vie steampunk. OctopodiCon is linked into the Science Cafe (www.sciencecafes.org)system and hosts themed monthly Science Teas, as well as being linked into the Science Festival (www.sciencefestivals.org) network.

The demographic attracted to steampunk is diverse and yet can be defined as people who are creative, innovative, and dedicated.  The majority of people drawn to steampunk are between the ages of 16 and 45, although there are large groups extending beyond those ages.  Their employment choices are generally in the arts, sciences, and engineering fields; many are professionals or studying to become professionals.  They are loyal to brands which support their passions, and they discover those brands by attending events such as OctopodiCon which are supported by those brands.

By supporting OctopodiCon, you have the opportunity to reach out to this demographic in a direct and intimate fashion not possible in many other mediums.  Your marketing dollars will be well spent by placing ads on our website and flyers, in our newsletters and programming guide, and at the venue itself during the convention.  It is also possible that some of our guests and attendees would be pleased to participate in other marketing efforts by your company.  Talk to us and we’ll help you with that.

Depending on the extent of your marketing program choices, we can also make available VIP tickets to the event which includes access to the science-oriented classes, demonstrations, panels, Art Gallery, author book signings and readings, Masquerade, games, the SteamMakers Ball, and the opportunity to meet our featured guests, as well as a souvenir program guide autographed by our featured guests – Prof. Elemental, Dr. Grymm, Ay-Leen the Peacemaker, Tom Smith, Leanna Renee Hieber, and Peter Pixie, as well as other guests such as Dr. Fear, Prof. Amelia Ann McAlden, Prof. Belinda Beatrice  Pinhiero, Prof. Brad Sinor, and others.

We will both benefit – you by reaching a demographic of people eager to support those who recognize and support their passions and us by having the funds to defray the expenses of organizing and running such an exciting event.

So join us by sponsoring this local convention. You may check out our website at http://octopodicon.org, and contact us by emailing octopodiconchair @gmail.com or calling us at 405-535-7415.

Thanking You,

Sena Noddy Brothers, CEO of OctopodiCon, LLC and chair of OctopodiCon 2012
