Kyla’s Keepsakes

I am Kyla from Kyla’s Keepsakes.  I create steampunk accessories for the hair and hats, one of kind bustles, hats, journals, jewelry and clothing accessories  for men and women, and I repurpose old/new jackets and vests.  I started out creating accessories for belly dancers 7 years ago and since then I have accessorized steampunk ladies and gentlemen, brides and groom and even moms and child from the fairy realm.

Ground Up Art

Ground Up Art

I am a self taught mixed media artist who specializes in polymer clay and yarn sculpture. I started very small about 5 years ago with basic shapes and forms and added bit by bit until I achieved the level of artistry I am at today. Art is my life and passion. I fall in love with every piece I give life to and I never sell anything unless I’m sad to see it go. I truly believe that anyone can be an artist. The only circumstance one must overcome is their own self doubt. I have a full time job that pays my bills but I spend every moment drawing inspiration from life and my surroundings. My art tends to be more on the “creepy” or “dark” side but I don’t see it as foreboding. I enjoy bringing the beauty out of the macabre and I particularly like to focus on adding a dash of elegance to the otherwise taboo or horrific. My goal with every piece is to offer up something that will illicit a response in the viewer, whether that be positive or negative. I encourage everyone to be creative and I am always happy to share techniques and ideas!
